31-Year MIT Technician
Injured
in Interstate 70 Accident
Jack Murty, one of Miami Industrial Truck's top Journeyman
Technicians, was involved in a terrible accident on Tuesday, April
3, 2007. Unfortunately, a 58-year-old Lewisburg woman was killed in
the accident. The vehicle she was driving eastbound on I-70 went
across the median and hit Jack head-on going westbound near the
Dayton International Airport access road exit.
Jack was removed from his van and care-flighted to Miami Valley
Hospital. He received severe injuries to his hand, knee and foot. He
has undergone several surgeries to date and will require more. Jack
has been MIT's "Technician of the Year" and is a member of our
company's Service Hall of Fame. He lives in Vandalia, Ohio, with his
wife Terri of 30 years.
We are all thankful that Jack was able to survive this terrible
accident. Please join us in wishing him a speedy recovery. He has
some tough rehabilitation ahead of him, but we are confident that
with his family's help and his determination, he will overcome.

Should you purchase a
pre-owned or new piece of equipment?
 Your
real decision should start with your equipment usage and application.
Today, companies too often overlook the economics of purchasing a used
forklift, aerial work platform or an industrial sweeper and scrubber. A
good "rule of thumb" is this: If a piece of equipment is going to be
used 1 to 4 hours a day, a used unit is a good recommendation. Over 4
hours a day usage, we recommend new.
Many times we see companies putting a significant amount of repair
money into a dead horse when consideration of a newer used unit might be
the answer. The older vehicles are harder to get parts for and at times
can be down due to availability.
The cost of a 5-year-old used forklift is usually about 60% of a new
