MIT Receives Five-Star Service Recognition Award

Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift of America honored Miami

Beginning January 4, MIT Service Technician Jerry
Gostnell of our Findlay, OH, branch participated in a
14-day mission trip to Santa Elena, Belize. Jerry, his wife
Judy, and 18 other people from Northwest Ohio took time out of
their personal lives to give something back to the world. They
worked with the Rotary Club of Belize in accomplishing this
mission. Their goal was to demonstrate to the people of Belize
what a group of volunteers can actually accomplish. All their
mission work was performed on a local school in the area,
attended by 960 students from kindergarten to 8th grade.

From the minute they got there, they worked. The women painted
and cleaned 13 classrooms, a teacher's lounge and library. The
men updated the electricity, ran new wiring, and put in ceiling
fans in many of the classrooms. Bookshelves, chalkboards and
fluorescent lighting also were installed. Along with their
personal time and tools, various friends of the group helped
underwrite the entire cost of the trip. Who says the people of
America aren't generous? On top of all this volunteerism, Judy
and Jerry have two sons and a son-in-law fighting the war on
terror in Iraq. We are certainly proud of the Gostnell
family! |
