Forklift Emission Testing
It’s that time of the year when buildings are closed up
and forklift emissions are of concern to the safety of your employees
inside. We would like to let everyone know that Miami Industrial Trucks,
Inc. has a “value added “service to test the environment that your
forklifts are working in.
 |
|
Our
emissions tester will analyze the level of carbon monoxide in
your plant |
|
We have the Blanke Emissions Tester used by OSHA
inspectors to assist our customers in testing their plant carbon
monoxide content. Our tests are run in three modes: idle, cruise and
under load.
OSHA recommends that internal combustion engines
operating indoors be below 1% carbon monoxide. The benefits of this
inspection are: health and safety of your employees, longer engine life
and fuel savings economy. Fuel savings can be very significant, which
can save your company thousands of dollars annually.
If you’d like us to do a Fuel Savings/Emission test on
your internal combustion forklifts, please give our service department a
call at 800-444-4808, and we will give you all the details about our
service.

Are Your Forklift Operators
OSHA-OK?
OSHA standards state that only "trained and authorized persons" may
operate forklift trucks. All training should be job, site, truck and
application specific. All operators should be evaluated at least once
every three years. Forklift, aerial work platform and skid steer loader
training is available at Miami Industrial Truck's training center or at
your location. We have trained over 35,000 operators in our trading
area. Call our Training Center or visit our Web site at
www.mitlift.com to enroll in our next scheduled class. Other safety
services we offer include: ergonomic evaluations, emission testing, and
fork and upright chain inspections.

Take advantage of the
Propane Fuel Tax Credit
Miami Industrial Trucks, Inc. is pleased to inform you that propane
lift truck customers could be eligible for a 50-cent-per-gallon tax
credit as part of the SAFE Transportation Equity Act of 2005. The
alternative fuel tax credit is a credit against the excise tax imposed
on the retail sale or use of alternative fuels such as LPG (or propane).
Effective October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2009, this credit has
the potential to provide thousands of dollars of savings annually!
What Are My Potential Savings?
The potential tax savings would be the actual gallons (or gallon
equivalents) of alternative fuel used (or sold) in which the federal
excise tax was paid (by you) multiplied by 50 cents.
How Do I Claim The Credit?
Note that the lift truck must be associated with a business or
trade.
Register with the IRS and be classified as an “Alternative Fueler.”
This is accomplished by completing and mailing IRS Form 637 entitled
Application for Registration for Certain Excise Tax Activities.
If you already have a Certificate of Registry or a Letter of
Registration, you are grandfathered in. However, everyone must have been
registered by July 1, 2007.
File IRS Form 4136 (available at
www.irs.gov) at the end
of the taxable year. This form allows you to claim a credit against your
income tax liability. The credit is refundable even if you have no
further tax liability.
For more detailed information please contact your tax advisor.
